we need to know how to remove and installation on ball-joints for a ford f250 3/4 ton 2 wheel drive
is it 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive? two wheel drive needs to be pressed out and a new joint pressed in. four wheel drive- some say to remove the drive axle, not necessary. with upper joint removed from upper control arm remove the spindle nut and remove spindle from rotor and steering knuckle (you may have to bang and pry very hard). with drive axle now mobile remove lower nut on ball joint. bang with pickle fork to release from lower control arm. remove upper four bolts or drill out rivots and replace with new ball joint.
Yes.
you need a pickle fork to drive between the control arm and the ball joint to separate them.
heres what i did for both front cv shaft: jack car up onto jack stands. remove wheels remove brake calipers remove brake caliper mounting bracket remove rotor (use impact hammer to remove rotor screws or drill the heads off) unbolt lower ball joint use pickle fork to pry ball joint from hub (this will likely ruin the rubber on the ball joint, so replace. otherwise use a tie-rod end puller the remove) pry the dent out of the keyway on the end of the drive shaft use impact wrench to remove driveshaft nut use 6" jaw gear puller to remove hub from end of drive shaft yank on driveshaft hard to remove from tranny
you need to release the drive shaft to give clearance to fit the ball joint................PS *I think the vauxhall method is to remove the anti-roll bar link and shock absorber from the lower arm, then remove the lower arm from the chassis to give you more movement on the ball joint. The driveshaft can then be left undisturbed.
you can replace power stering pump without moveing drive shaft but its fiddly. to remove drive shaft undo 30mm nut in centre, undo bottom ball joint and pull strut out of way be ready to catch gear box oil.
Put your truck up on jacks. Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel and then remove them. Remove the tire so you have access to the ball joints. Use a pair of pliers to remove the cotter pins. Place a ball joint separator between the ball joint and the steering knuckle and then hammer it until it pops loose. Remove the old ball joints and then replace them with the new ones.
rig the ball or club.
how do i remove the drive shaft from the drivers side to remove the lower ball joint I replaced both ball joints on my 1999 Jimmy passenger side. I am assuming their the same. The axle nut must be removed, I belive it is 32 mm. I had to remove the upper to allow travel to remove the spline from the wheel bearing. Also the lower has a weird design in which the top of the ball joint is covered by the control arm, there was no hole in it to allow me to beat it out, so I made with drill bit. Maybe rent a press kit from an auto store, and get the torque spec for the axle nut. Oh yea, the shaft stays put, don't remove it just tye it up and try to keep it in the casement. Hope that helps.
Rear wheel drive have upper ball joints, front wheel drive do not. The strut takes the place of the ball joint.
If its 2 wheel drive, you will need a press. Those ball joints are pressed into the upper and lower control arms. If it is 4 Wheel drive you need to remove the rivets with either an air chisel or to drill them out.
