∙ 17y agoYou pop off the retaining ring with a small screwdriver (the notch is towards the back of the ring) and the switch slides out. Simply slide the replacement switch in and replace the retaining ring. The new switch costs around $27 and took less than ten minutes to replace.
Unplug your battery, pull off the connector, unscrew the bolt and remove the switch then replace and work backwards.
The Honda Civic 1.6 liter engine ignition switch is held in with a retaining ring. Unscrew the retaining ring. Pull the ignition switch out. Remove the wiring harness from the back of the ignition switch. Reverse the process to install the new ignition switch.
The backup light switch is located on the left side of the transmission. Disconnect the switch connectors, then unscrew the switch.

The solution is easy. There is a little button that you press on the body of the switch that releases the 'shaft and knob'. A little jiggling is required sometimes.
The 1992 Plymouth Cold ignition switch is held in place by a retaining ring. Remove the retaining ring at the top of the ignition switch. Pull the ignition switch out. Remove the wiring harness from the ignition switch. Reverse the process to install the new ignition switch.
The 1991 Mercury Sable ignition switch is held in place with a retaining ring. Loosen the retaining ring. Pull the ignition switch out. Remove the wiring harness from the rear of the ignition switch. Reverse the process to install the new ignition switch.
With no key you will have to drill out the existing tumbler assembly from the switch in order to unscrew the ignition switch bezel.
remove steering column cover, disconnect wiring connector from switch, remove retaining screw from back of switch, remove switch. that is not enough
fuel pump keeps running after the key is out what do I need to check I have to remove the fuses to stop the pump.
