For the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, you'll need a 1/2" socket wrench. The longer the wrench the better, i.e. a long breaker bar. The spring retention arm has a square hole for the 1/2" socket to be placed. Once placed, you can adjust tension for serpentine belt removal or application. Follow the belt route guide on the "little sticker" near the belt under the hood. If you don't have a 1/2" socket wrench, I'm pretty sure you can rent the necessary tool at Autozone for free (deposit returned when tool returned). This method works for many different vehicles, makes, and models. http://www.wjjeeps.com/serpentine.htm
