I just did this today (12-29-05). You first unfasten 2 bolts that connect the valve to the body (if you have big hands, this will be difficult). You then have to CAREFULLY remove the copper hose that connects to the valve. The reason that I caution against being anything other than careful is that if you change the hose from its round condition, you are going to have a really hard time reinserting the hose into the new valve. If all goes well, the job should take about 1/2 hour. I forgot to add that the bolts are at towards the bottom of the valve (the side closest to the windshield). When resinserting the valve, I suggest to hook up the hose first before screwing the valve back onto the body.
On a 2001 b2300 it is located above the transmission and you have to take part of the transmission out to get to it. It cost me 538.00 at the Mazda dealer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Over 5000$
You just ask a redneck how!!
If you mean the ERG valve which relates to emission, I recommend having a mechanic do it, but the valve itself is not expensive about $50.00. I let this problem lag on and it blew a cap called a diverter valve that has something to do with vacuum, dont wait like I did.
if its a 1996 there was a recall on that call a gm garage adn ask .............
Where is the ERG valve located on a Chevy Vandura 5.7 350 engine?
loosen the two bolts that are holding the egr valve on unscrew it from the emission line pull off the gasket. put on new gasket with gasket sealant put egr valve back on screw in the bolts screw on the line and your good to go!
back pressure from a plugged or partially plugged catalytic converter
An ERG is a unit of work. An EGR is a valve that usually sits on the manifold and is controlled by a vacuum diaphram.
The EGR Valve its self is around 77 dollars and the gasket is about 2.50 so if you do it yourself it will be 79.50 taking it in could cost 100+
The ERG valve on a 1999 Chevy Express van is near the carburetor. It is bolted on the intake manifold.
take off the plastic engine cover by removing the 4 bolts. the ERG valve will then be accessible. it is on the driver's side between the engine and the battery.
