How do you reset the oil life light on Mercury Mariner? Dealer didn;t reset at oil change & we are out of state now. Thanks

Turn the ignition to run (one position before starting engine). Press and release SETUP to display "OIL LIFE xxx% HOLD RESET = NEW". Press and hold RESET for 2 seconds and then release to reset oil life to 100%. Turn ignition off and then start engine to verify the indicator has been reset.
I have a 2006 Pilot and I reset the oil life meter by holding in the dash button (the one used to toggle between the odometer, outside temp, oil life, etc) for 30 seconds. It starts to flash at about 20 seconds and will reset at 30 seconds.
This procedure works for resetting the oil change reminder on most 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 Ford Explorer and Mercury Mountaineer vehicles that have the three vertically aligned buttons with "Info" on the top ,"Set up" in the middle and "Reset" on the bottom. . Close the door, turn the key on with engine off and wait for the chime to stops. Press and release "Set up" until you see "Reset for system check". Press and release "Reset" until you see "Oil life % Hold reset new" Press and hold "Reset" until you see "Oil life reset to 100%"

You can reset your engine light by bringing the oil life display onto your monitor. Hold the scroll button in until the oil life goes to 100 percent. The engine light should go off.
