It wasn't- Australia had no active participation of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, although certain members of the Australian War Cabinet may have been told in advance that the USAF were soon to use a hitherto new and secret weapon against the Japanese mainland.

However, parts of the Australian desert were used as nuclear testing ranges by both Britain and the US in the early 1950s.
