∙ 8y agoThe Revolution was to gain the colonies their independence from the British Empire. The Civil War was fought between the North and the South over what the South saw as the federal government taking away their rights to own slaves.
the civil war was different from the revolutionary war because the civil war was about slavery.

A civil war is war that is between two factions within a country. The object is to either separate or divide the country or to take control of the other group. Civil wars are always internal to a country.
A revolutionary war is where a country overthrows the ruler of that country. Most revolutions involve a colony that fights against the country that controls and rules over it. Other times the country is trying to overthrow a King or ruler. This was the case in the French Revolution and the Russian revolution in 1917 that established the Communist rule.
