The Revolution was to gain the colonies their independence from the British Empire. The Civil War was fought between the North and the South over what the South saw as the federal government taking away their rights to own slaves.

well.... the civil war was a lot later, but that is not a good answer. so here are some below..............................................................................................

1. the civil war used muskets, knifes, swords, and cannons

and the American revolution used a mortar

2. the civil war was a fight of the north and South part of the USA.
