It depends on the tribe. Different Tribes had different traditions, so to say Native American is like asking for one answer as to how children in Rome, India, and Scandinavia were brought up during the same time period.

What was the Americans goal when they set up the reservations in America?

Americanization of Native AmericansThe Americanization of Native Americans was an assimilation effort by the United States to transform Native American culture to European-American culture between the years of 1790-1920.[1][2] George Washington and Henry Knox were first to propose, in an American context, the cultural transformation of Native Americans.[3] They formulated a policy to encourage the "civilizing" process.[2] With increased waves of immigration from Europe, there was growing public support for education to encourage a standard set of cultural values and practices to be held in common by the majority of citizens. Education was viewed as the primary method in the acculturation process for minorities.Americanization policies were based on the idea that when indigenous people learned United States (European-American) customs and values, they would be able to merge tribal traditions with European-American culture and peacefully join the majority society. After the end of the Indian Wars, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the government outlawed the practice of traditional religious ceremonies. It established boarding schools which children were required to attend. In these schools they were forced to speak English, study standard subjects, attend church, and leave tribal traditions behind. The Dawes Act of 1887, which allotted tribal lands in severalty to individuals, was seen as a way to create individual homesteads for Native Americans. Land allotments were made in exchange for Native Americans' becoming US citizens and giving up some forms of tribal self-government and institutions. It resulted in the transfer of an estimated total of 93 million acres (6,100 km²) from Native American control. Most was sold to individuals. The Indian Citizenship Act of 1924 was also part of Americanization policy.

When discussing the question of an American holocaust your text concludes that most of the terrible decimation of the Native American population after 1500 resulted from?

The usual answer is infectious diseases that Columbus and Co brought with them from Europe - diseases that had previously been unknown in the Americas and against with the Native Americans had therefore not built up immunity or even resistance.By the way, I wouldn't call that an American holocaust as was not deliberate killing.

What caused the native American plague?

I'm guessing you mean the Smallpox outbreak? Native Americans had no natural immunities built up to diseases brought here by European immigrants, some outbreaks were a natural result. It must be noted that at least 3 documented cases exist where smallpox was intentionally introduced to Native Americans.

Look up ICWA.Answer:Many first nations groups see it as wrong for non-aboriginal people to adopt first nations children as they will be diviorced from their traditions and culture.
