Their treatment was generally appalling Australians had been mistreating the indigenous people of this country for so long that they had gotten used to it. I arrived in this country as a nine year old in 1959 and could see the evil in the situation. But there was money to be made out of it by the public service and those connected with them so I suppose it must have been alright. After all they were not Australian citizens were they.
