An HD LCD television will be able to handle any HD incoming signal inclusing 720p and 1080i. It will also handle any SD signal.
The picture will be as good as the source. If the source is HD, you should expect to see HD quality. If it SD, expect SD quality. The HDMI cable merely passes data from the source to the television and does not affect quality of images.
If you have a HDTV and it is connected to the PS3 with the Sony A/V cable that came with the PS3 you are not getting HD. Replacing the A/V cable with a HDMI or PS3 component will allow the PS3 to greatly improve the picture quality and Blu-Ray disc movies will look better on the HDTV than any HDTV program ever did. The reason is because the HDTV TV Programs are only 720P and the Blu-Ray is 1080P
It shouldn't since HDMI is a digital signal the cable shouldn't matter. I have seen $10 cables look the exact same as a $100 cable. But if its a really crappy manufacturer, I'm sure that the quality could be degrated. I would stick to some name brands. I have some Belkin cables that look outstanding that were only $8 on amazon.
You look at the back of a HDTV or HD ready TV to determine what input plugs exist. You can also use the owners manual. Normally an HD ready TV is an older model that does not have an HD turner for the HD Television broadcasts and does mot has HDMI inputs and instead has the 5 RCA Plug component connection for 720P HD input or an S-Video connection input or even both. They sell 5 RCA style plug Component to HDMI connection cable for use with the PS3 and that cable can be used for any HDMI to component connection.
There are two different connectors used for HDMI one is normal size and the other is a mini HDMI plug. Even HD movie cameras use a a combination HDMI Cable, one end is normal sized to connect TV, the other end is mini HDMI to connect camera. If you need a cable Look for HDMI on the display, make sure you get the one for the particular equipment you will be using it on.

Both cables use a digital video signal, so as far as picture is concerned they will look identical. The difference is that HDMI also carries digital audio. In general HDMI is preferred to DVI in most setups because of this reason. It means one less cable to add to the cable mess.DVI = Digital VideoHDMI = Digital Video + AudioHDMI also incorporates HDCP, or High Definition Content Protection, a signal sent along with the image and picture that prevents pirating the signal from copyrighted sources. TV's with HDMI inputs can receive video from DVI to HDMI adapted cables, but will only show the picture if the HDCP signal is intact.
Any properly tested and certified cable will work as well as any other. There will be no difference in quality between a $5 cable and a $100 cable. Claims of "improved quality" or "higher definition" by manufacturers and sellers are misleading at best and might be considered dishonest. By buying an HDMI cable from a reputable dealer, you should guarantee that the cable will be a certified design that is guaranteed to operate correctly.
Use an adapter which would connect to the monitor and PS4. Old monitors usually have a VGA port. Look for a HDMI to VGA cable
You should look for high resolution (720p, 1080i, 1080p), low response time, and lots of video inputs (at least 2 component and 2 HDMI).
As compared to what? Are you talking analog cable or digital cable? Are you comparing it to an analog signal over the air or a satellite receiver?
Most all flat screen TVs have HDMI ports nowadays, as long as the tv is 720p or 1080p (it will say on the box) it will have one. Typically Samsung is the best LCD TV and Panasonic is the best Plasma TV, but Sharp and LG are probably the best cheap TVs that will still look good. If you really want a cheap HDMI TV, Dynex (Best Buy brand) TVs are only a couple hundred dollars.
