Well firstly, I would spell the Crucible correctly, and the beginning of my essay would depend upon what I was going to be writing about. Basic essay writing technique says that you should open with something to 'catch attention' that relates to the content of your essay, perhaps a quote from the work that pertains to what you want to say. If I were writing about women in the crucible or the fear that a witch hunt inspires, I might open with a statistic about how many women were actually estimated to be killed during the Salem witch trials, or how many were burned at the stake in Europe. If writing about the relationship of the book to the McCarthy era, I might quote a similar statistic, drawing upon the blacklist, or people who lost their jobs, or the way trials during that time were conducted. Then usually people summarize briefly the points they want to make in the essay, along with a overarching thesis statement which sums up what your paper is about, and a nice transition into the body of your paper.
A good way to start your essay would be: many people think that..... or start with a question: what is...? and why does....?.
