if you have the Buick 3.8 engine. this engine is known for low oil pressure at high mileage. the cause is the oil pump is external built into the timing cover. the problem is the pump gears (rotors are made of hardened steel mounted in a soft aluminum housing, which is part of the ting gear cover. they do make a oil pump rebuild kit which includes the pump internal parts, my experience 30 year pro auto repair the timing cover is the part that wears causing excessive clearence to do the job once and right first test oil pressure with a mechanical gauge let car get to operating temp. measure oil pressure engine idling and put car in drive below 7 lbs, will cause oil light to flicker at stop signs and traffic.we would replace timing cover and pump, if you would like to gamble by a pump rebuild kit and you could do it in car, just unbolt pump cover pull the pump gears install new pump rotors replace cover with new gasket, ps pack pump gears with wheel bearing grease as this will make the pump prime easier good luck
