Had this problem off and on for years. Finally switched to Mozilla Firefox for my browser. All prior problems of IE gone - Firefox has twice the security that IE has, and less than one-tenth of 1% the problems of IE. I'll never ever return to IE.
According to the AVG website, AVG is compatible with the IE, Firefox, and Google browsers.
Firefox is much safer in my opinion than internet Explorer. I have had no virus or spyware problems since switching over to Firefox. There is a higher rate of contacting a glitch using IE. I think Firefox is much quicker than IE. I switched becaues it seemed faster and I loved their tab feature. Although IE has this feature now I still find it easier, faster and safer when using Firefox over IE. I see it as Internet Explorer is on their 8th version and they are already playing catc up to Firefox's 3rd version. Firefox is a much younger but I feel like I am getting much more from it.
