If you enlist as infantry, and get into the Old Guard, you'll remain in the US - provided you can get in (lots of combat vets and decorated soldiers there now, so a cherry PVT fresh out of OSUT won't be very appealing to them) and don't get punted out (ultra strict unit, that one is). All in all, there is no guarantee you won't be deployed or assigned to an overseas duty station.
