Try to start it on neutral. if it stars then you have a faulty neutral safety switch.
I don't know about the Explorer but I had an experience with a Ford Mustang. I changed about everything I could think of related to the non-starting problem. Then I discovered there was a filter in the gas tank. Changed it and the problem disappeared!
with mine the transmission was going out and it could be something as little as a bolt or as big as the transmission itself (my ford has 227000)
This could indicate a simple problem with the vacuum shift modulator or a major failure with the transmission. You will probably need to get it to a mechanic or a shop to get it properly diagnosed.
Short to ground.
If your 1999 Acura TL starts well but develops a problem when you accelerate, the problem could be with its transmission.
Check the drive shaft universal joints. Also if it has a flex shaft or a center bearing check that. Motor mount or transmission mount is another possibility. Lastly it could be the transmission. If everything checks out OK, then have the transmission fluid and filter changed.
It depends on the type of transmission. If it is a manual transmission, the first thing to check would be the linkage. If the linkage is not the problem, then it could be the bushings or the synchronizer. If it is an automatic transmission, then it could be a problem with the bands, though you could have debris in the valve body or a servo problem. In some cases, linkage bearings could be an issue.
if you get it done in the ford dealer it'll be about $3600...i had mine changed if you get a used one you could get away with $1000..i would not recommend this way though
It is unlikely that the transmission would fail after a fluid change. The transmission filter should be changed at the same time. If it was not changed at the same time it could have caused the issue.
If you are seeing signs that your transmission needs to be changed. Then you can go to any local garages to have them change it for you. But, it could be a number of any problems.
my transmission is not shifting on my 2005 Ford Taurus what could be the problem
Could be a transmission problem, assuming an automatic transmission.
