I have a 2002 Nissan Sentra that will not go into gear i have to turn it off to put it in first then turn it on and drive to put it in second and so on it also grinds alot.what does this mean?

An oxygen sensor, EGR valve or other tune-up related issue can cause a vehicle to stall when idling and in gear. Start with a computer diagnostic scan and see what it tells you to repair. You can often borrow, rent or buy a code scanner from local auto parts retailers. A scanner can pay for itself on the first repair.
