change your air filter and get spray cleaner from autozone spray it down the main airflow tubes then check your valve cover gasket i bet they are leaking the oil drips down into the spark plug chambers and causes mis fires and check your timing belt that should do it other than a regular tune up....
Shakes and shimmies? Try getting your tires balanced and your front end aligned. That might help.
I also wish someone would answer this question as my 1997 Ford contour does the same thing. It shakes and vibrates very bad when it idles and it idles really low. They set the idle up to make it so it wouldn't die so now when I start it it revs up really bad then it idles down then it idles down to low and shakes I also wish someone would answer this question as my 1997 Ford contour does the same thing. sounds like you have a leaky intake manifold
crankshaft sensor going.
Sounds like a motor mount or a transmission problem.......
sounds like the timing is off
You are most likely low on coolant. Bleed the cooling system after you add coolant to get any air out......
check your idle controle moter. it is probably crudded up or not wotking.
A 1998 Honda Civic shakes when it idles usually due to worn engine mounts. Open the hood and check the engine mounts. See if they are either cracked or brittle. Since the mounts can not absorb the vibrations it will be felt in the cabin.
You have a misfire - engine related, not tranny...get the engine checked/tuned up...etc... dave
sounds like you have a air leak son the in take some where.
Bad head gasket, cracked engine block, cracked head. It's one or two of the three.
