I have a 91 escort Gt that the lights won't come on and the engine will not crank over but the battery is fully charged and the starter is checked ok by auto zone.?

Sounds like a connection problem from the battery to the car. Easiest way to find out is to get a jump start from another car, if it works then it's the battery, if not then is either the battery cable or an alarm/immobiliser that is still armed.

Could be, (assuming the starter is not cranking the engine) a bad starter, dirty or loose battery connections, the engine is seized.
Why Engine cranks slowly?
If an engine is cranking slowly the first thing I would suspect is a weak battery. Remove both battery cables and clean both the cable connectors and the battery posts. Put a battery charger on the battery and charge it until if is fully charged. If the problem still persists, then suspect a starter going bad or the engine is slow in time. Remove the starter and have it tested at an auto parts store. If the starter checks OK, then you need to have the engine timing checked. If your Check Engine light is on, have the ECU scanned for a trouble code and go from there.

Yes, as long as you have a fully charged battery and good starter the engine will start even if the alternator is defective. The engine will run until the battery looses it's charge, which it will. if the alternator is bad.

First verify that you can turn the engine over by hand. Next, verify that you have a good power supply (battery in good condition and fully charged). Verify that you have a good connection from battery positive to the large wire at the starter. Verify that you have a good connection from battery negative to the body of the starter. Temporarily connect battery positive to the small wire at the starter. Listen for the starter to turn the engine over at a normal speed for cranking the engine. If so, your starter is working. Many auto parts stores offer free starter testing - not sure if they can be tested while still on the vehicle.
