That is the lower hose and the one connected to the radiator is the upper one..
follow the lower radiator hose, you will see a housing which the hose is connected to. remove the hose. there are two bolts connecting the housing to the engine block. remove bolts and housing. behind the housing sits the thermostat. it's silver and fits in the engine block perfectly.
This depends on the vehicle, but is most usually in a housing on the engine side of the top radiator hose, that is the top radiator hose is usually connected to the thremostat housing.
