You need a receiver with an HDMI output, such as the Sony STRD series of receivers. Your '5.1 Surround System' sounds either like a surround speaker set with no amplifier, or a system designed for computers. The Sony receivers will amplify passive (non-powered) speakers, but the subwoofer will need to be powered. You will then need to purchase a DVD or Blu-Ray player with an HDMI output.

Alternately, you can purchase a Blu-Ray Home Theatre system, which includes the BluRay player and receiver (1 unit), and matching speakers. The Sony BDVE systems are a good place to start.

How do you hook up netgear neotv streaming player to a surround sound?

If your surround receiver has HDMI, connect an HDMI cable from the NeoTV to the receiver, and then HDMI out the receiver to the TV. If you don't have HDMI on your receiver, you can connect an optical cable from the NEOTV to the surround receiver.

I have a apex tv i want surround system what kind of cables do i need?

Connect the audio out of the TV to the audio input of the surround receiver with a dual RCA cable. Note that this connection isn't surround. You will need to connect a DVD, Blu-Ray or digital cable box to the surround receiver for true surround sound.

Need to connect Sony Bravia klv32ex400 which has no clear audio-out port to 5.1 channel surround without HDMI so where do you connect the 5 cables from the surround sound system to the HDTV?

The KLV32ex400 has no surround output capability. The only audio output is a stereo 1/8" headphone jack. If you are using a Blu-Ray or HD cable or satellite receiver, you can run an optical or coaxial digital cable from those directly to the receiver for surround sound.

How do you connect speakers that have an RCA cable coming out of them taken from a PC surround sound system to a surround sound receiver its a kenwood receiver with copper cable outlets?

If the speakers are not powered (they don't plug into the wall), you can cut off the RCA plug, strip back the wires to a negative and positive lead, and connect them to the speaker posts of the receiver.

How do you set up surround sound on a LG smart TV?

The direct answer to this would be, no. But I think you might be asking the wrong question. To get surround sound to play your television programs you would need to put your cable/satellite box through the receiver. As a side note: There are two ways to do this. 1. If you receiver supports video pass thru (which would mean that there are VIDEO IN jacks and VIDEO OUT jacks) If not then proceed to the next option. You will hook up everything from the cable/satellite box to the receiver and just one cable, which will be the video signal, to the television. 2. You will hook up only the audio cables to the receiver and a single video cable straight to the television.

Do you hook the surround sound to the TV or satellite?

check your surround sound if it has an HDMI or AV input jacks. if it has, then you are good to go. from your satellite receiver, attach the HDMI cable or AV cable. connect it to your surround sound. after connecting the satellite receiver box and surround sound, attach the HDMI or AV cable from the surround sound to your television.

How do you connect your 360 and cable box to your surround sound system with HDMI cables to get surround sound for all of them and get HD picture?

You'll need a receiver with at least 2 HDMI inputs and 1 output, as well as an HD-capable cable box. Connect the XBOX and the cable box to the receiver with the HDMI cables, and then plug the HDMI output on the receiver to the TV.

How do you get four pairs of speakers into a receiver?

you could connect them all to each other then connect them to the receiver. or if you wanted a surround sound experience you could connect the biggest directly to the left and right channels respectively and then connect two of the pairs one set at a time as follows... left surround front (positive to receiverL+, negative connects to the positive of the left surround rear, negative of the left surround rear goes into the receiverL- ) on the right side ( right surround front + goes to receiver, (-) goes to the (+) of the right surround rear, the (-) of the right surround rear goes into the receiver.) this changes the sound frequencies the speakers are best at supporting because it changes the ohms of the speakers. this is called wiring in a series. as opposed to wiring the speakers all together + to + ,- to - , which is called wiring in parallel. Then with the last set of speakers set them at the very rear of the soundstage and wire the left speaker's positive into the left positive connection on the receiver then the negative of that speaker into the positive of the right channel. Then wire the positive of the right speaker into the positive of the right channel on the receiver and the negative of the right speaker into the positive of the left channel. this will only play the surround channels of the signal. test these speakers out alone if you want to hear the surround sound effect by itself. In music it will be the background singers ect. (if you have ever wondered how a surround system gets extra channels out of two analog wired channels now you know :)

I have got projector and 5.1 surround sound but never connected it up properly...i have a ps3 and my brother has xbox we want to connect them to the projector and surround sound... HELP?

If your surround receiver has 2 HDMI inputs, connect both the PS3 and the Xbox 360 to the receiver with HDMI cables, and then connect the HDMI output of the receiver to the television. Simply connect the PS3 and Xbox 360 to the A/V inputs whether they are HDMI, Component, S video, RCA A/V, ETC. It does not matter if it is 480i 720 or 1080P as long as it is a Projector TV and not just a projector
