I have a cat that has a very hard time getting rid of hair balls he can bearly breath is there anything I can do to help him?

There is some medicine you can give him to help soften up the hairball thing. I recommend taking your cat to a vet to make sure there are not other complications. Plus your vet can recommend a medicine. In addition to medicine your vet may recommend a different cat food.
The main thing is to prevent hairballs. I have attached a link that will give you some ideas on preventing hairballs.
