From what you've told me, your daughter has shown no signs of a penicillin allergy -- she simply used a penicillin variant (Amoxycillin) that's been around for a comparatively long time, and it hit a resistant strain. Simply not working is, in a way, reasuring, in that daughter's body handled the full dosage with no apparent adverse effects. That the medication didn't help shold have nothing to do with Allergies.

Q: I have a penicillin allergy. My daughter has used amoxicillin before with success. A recent course of Augmentin however was ineffective. Could this mean she has a penicillin allergy too?

Can my daughter of 130 lbs take 500mg of amoxicillin?

There is no reason that her weight would prevent her from taking 500mg of amoxicillin. However, i get the impression that they were not prescribed for her, as a single dose would not be prescribed by a doctor, as it would be useless. I would advise that she go see a doctor to see if she needs a FULL COURSE of antibiotics, and be careful as she may be allergic to penicillin.

What if your daughter is directed to take 30ml of amoxicillin how many teaspoons will you give her?

It depends on the weight of your daughter and the strength of syrup amoxicillin/ 5 ml. Normally it is 5 ml three times a day. There should not be under dosage. Over dosage is harmless.

Can you take amoxicillin and calpol at the same time?

can my 2 year daughter take amoxicillian with calpol at the same time Yes, absolutely. They are totally different drugs. Amoxicillin is a penicillin/antibiotic, and Calpol is the brand name for Paracetamol, which is an analgesic (pain relief) and anti-pyretic (reduces fever). It is advisable in fact to use both, particularly in a child of that age, who is susceptible to febrile convulsions if a fever is left untreated (assuming that is what you are using the Calpol for).

Does augmentin cause tooth discoloration?

Yes, I think that Augmentin can cause tooth discoloration. My coworker and I (we work in the dental field) both have daughter's around the same age and both of our girls were on the Augmentin for a 10 day cycle. We both noticed that our daughter's had a brown staining around the gum line after taking the Augmentin. We are both very diligent about brushing and neither one of us had noticed the stain before the medicine was taken. To remove the stain we used adult toothpaste and a brush with a spinning head. This removed the stain almost completely. I have noticed that it is still slightly visible, so a professional cleaning is probably the best way to remove the stain entirely.

Can you give your ten year old daughter amoxicillin for urinary tract infection?

Can you take amoxicillin and panadol?

Yes its quite safe, amoxicillin is used to treat infections normally of a bacterial nature, panadol is for the relief of pain and the two do not have any conflict. If unsure try 500mg of panadol first and see if that helps, further amounts will depend on age and body weight.
