I have already disconnected the drive shaft on a 1990 ford ranger but can't seem to slide the transmission back to get to the clutch plate and flywheel how can i do that?

make sure all transmission bell housing bolts and bolts on top of transmission that connect it to the truck are unbolted. Secure transmission and it make take some light prying with a pry tool.
