If your airbox is not at the front of the car it will just suck in hot air, less dense, less oxygen, car goes slower, may make a louder noise but car will probably go slower, consider just attatching a forced ar tube to it from the front of your car where the intake originally attatched, then cold air is forced down into it, maybe just fit a cheap induction kit if u just want the engine to make a loud noise. i reccommend the apiro stainless steel ones, they make a lovely metallic sound. but make sure they fit under your bonnet, they are quite big, try to find a way to keep it cold withouttoo many expensive pipes.

I have disconnected the pipe running from my front fender to the air filter box on a Corsa B. where is the best place to fit a tube to maximise COLD air intake?

For any cold air intake system the filter should be as close to the ground as possible. This allows the air to be scooped up and remain cool before entering the engine. The front passenger wheel weld is the most common place to install a cold air intake.

What is an air intake?

In automotive engine terms, the air intake system would include everything between and including the air filter housing to the heads on the engine. The automotive HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) system also has an air intake system. This is where fresh air or recycled cabin air circulates in the cabin area.

What performance and tuning can you do to a car to have more horse power?

Help the engine breath better by improving the air filter/intake system and the exhaust system.

Where is the IAT sensor on a 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier?

The intake air temperature sensor is located in the air intake system. The system uses a plastic housing which flows throughout the engine bay. The sensor will be mounted near the air filter box.

Where is the heater intake tube on a 2003 Ford Windstar Coooling System?

The air intake for interior, aka 'cabin' heating & cooling, is located in the engine compartment. This air intake has a filter on it. Look for a 10" long by 1.5" tall cover in the plastic cover / trim / housing, just underneath or engine-side of the passenger wiperblade. Remove the cover and the filter is located just inside.

Where is the filter intake side of a pool?

Where is the oxygen sensor on a 2000 Ford Ranger 3.0L engine?

The O2 sensor is located on the air intake system. It connects the air filter box to the air intake manifold. It is the only peice on the air intake assembly that has an electrical connection (i.e. wires connect to it).

Where is the fresh air intake area in Ford Freestar 2006?

The intake for the HVAC system is under the cowl panel behind the engine on the passenger side. The cabin air filter is also there and can be accessed by removing the snap on cover on that side.

Will you damage your engine if you remove its cold air intake?

You will not damage your engine if you remove its cold air intake. The cold air intake system is merely added to increase engine efficiency and performance.

How can you make your engine sound nicer by doing DIY mods to the air filter or intake system?

Creating a short ram air intake system will give a car more aggressive sounding engine. To do this measure and find the right sized piping needed. Take couplings and attached one end to the manifold and another to the piping. Use a Cone filter and attach it vial a coupling. Connect all the necessary vacuum lines and that's it.

How does one fix cold air intake systems?

Before starting to repair the air intake system the battery should be disconnected. Once you have replaced it, then verify there are no holes in the intake tube, check for blockage or an excess water.
