I have the carburetors off of my 50hp 2003 Honda outboard. I would like information on how to clean them via online manual or diagram on cleaning.?

I am a DIY. I also have my 2004 Honda, 50 hp carbs off.

I was told by a boat mechanic to clean the carbs before I started buying rebuild kits.

I was also informed to go to NAPA and pick up a gallon of carb cleaner and soak the parts for about 2 hrs.

CAUTION - remove all plastic and rubber parts as this stuff is potent and will damage them.

CAUTION - wear rubber gloves and goggles this stuff is bad news on flesh and eyes!

Unscrew the jets remove o-ring, you may want to take a small wire to poke the crud through.

CAUTION- Do not use anything that may damage or alter the size of these holes as they are precision holes.

I also inserted a small wrench to keep the butterfly open.

After the 2 hr. soaking I used air to blow out all the tubes and holes in the carb.

I have to admit they certainly look new.

Today I will reassemble and see if crud/corrosion was the problem.

I have not been able to find a diagram showing these carbs or or how to reassemble them on the engine. ( where all those hoses belong)

It will probably be worth the investment on my behalf to buy a $30 repair manual after seeing how the shops charges $300 to $350 to "rebuild" these carbs.
