if it stalls and you can't restart it until 5-10 minutes later it's your crankshaft position sensor. That happened to mine.
Batteries should be replaced about every 3 to 5 years, some can even last seven. However, it is obvious that if the battery dies (with no ability to "jump"), is corroted, or gets a dead cell in it then it should be replaced.
Most Mercedes Benz Techs will suggest replacing your battery every 7 years.
I had the same problem on my '96 golf mk 3, it can be either a) not making contact on battery terminals or b) the battery needs to be replaced... Hope it helps 1) new battery may be the needed if its not solved, check the fuses (couple need be replaced) ,i did that started working.
As you listed this in the Saturn Vue category I will assume you have a Saturn Vue. The 2004 and up Saturn Vue engine was manufactured by Honda and it is an interference engine. The belt and water pump must be replaced every 100,000 miles. All other years used a GM V6 that was also an interference engine. The 4 cylinder Saturn Vue did not use a belt but had a chain.
Sounds like your alternator and battery need to be replaced soon.
If every thing is working leave it alone Mine stuck in defrost battery died and messed up the computer. Disconnect battery for 5 or more min. If you have this problem
if it stalls when you remove positive battery terminal then your alternator is bad Yes, it could be the alternator, but I have an 89 Celebrity and when I first got it we had the same problem and would die out every few minutes and need a boost. We changed the alternator, did not help. We bought a Duralast Gold battery from Auto Zone which helped a little but did not fix the problem. We then took the car to an alternator repair shop called Gabby's in Knoxville TN and they replaced a large fuse under the dashboard and I never had the problem again. Cost me $5.00.
The life of a car battery really depends on many factors, in addition to time. Amount of use and climate are key factors in the life of a battery. One can expect to have to replace a battery generally every 3 or 4 years, however.
The V6 L series engine uses a timing belt, which must be replaced every 100,000 miles. The 4 cylinder Saturn engines use a timing chain that typically does not need replacement until you have a reason to remove the cylinder head.
The 2006 Saturn Vue uses a Honda engine and transmission. This Honda V6 engine has a timing belt which must be replaced every 100,000 miles. The water pump should also be replaced at the same time as it is driven by the cam belt. Warning:This is an interference engine. Serious engine damage will occur if the belt breaks.
Ok i have replaced the battery and two alternators and replaceds the rear hatch light switch. still when i connect a light between the negitive battery post light comes on. Power continues to drain the battery over 4 days its dead. Why is it still draining? If you have checked every single light on the vehicle and none of them are on draining the battery it is more than likely a relay that is stuck. Check every relay in the vehicle.
Saturn moves around the Sun, approximately once every 30 years. Therefore it will advance about 12 degrees every year.
