Try to have your Neutral Safety switch checked out or your brake switch, It controls the shifter so you cant put it in gear without pressing the brake
why is my 2006 Nissan altima gear shift stuck in park
There could be a couple of reasons why a Nissan vehicle could be stuck in park. The shifter could be stuck or broken. The transmission may also be out or in need of fluid.
tap it with a hammer eh....
could be your thermostat is stuck or perhaps and needs to be replaced.
If the vehicle is stuck in a gear then the shift censor is out. The other reason could be that the linkage on the transmission is broken.
This was my solution to my 2006 Nissan Altima being stuck in park.... On the gear panel above the "P". Pop the cap off to reveal a cylinod. If you press down on the cylinoid, it will release the gear out of park. What can cause this is liquid being spilled or sprayed accidentally into that area and causing the cylinoid to stick. It will need to be cleaned or replaced, but at least you can get it to drive to wherever you need to go instead of it having to be towed.
Trouble code p1126 means: Thermostat Malfunction (Stuck Open)
The reason why the door ajar light stays on in a 1999 Nissan Altima could be due to the door switch being stuck. It is stated to spray WD-40 into the latch and that should fix the problem.
You may have to remove the shifter and realign forks in the top of transmission--problem usually caused by wear
You first need to make sure that you have to foot on the brake. Many cars will not go out of park if your foot is not on the brake.
Check brake light switch - could be defective or not aligned properly
turn ignition key on to unlock steering.do not start engine.shift transmission into neutral then try starting
