Run a quick compression test to make sure the cam is timed properly. Then make sure the cam AND the crank are at #1TDC when you put the distributor in at #1. You may need to work on it some more. It's easy to end up with the timing off.
how do u replace lifters
how to replace lifters on a 03 grand am
A compression test would be the first test I would start with, If you have low psi readings in the suspect cylinder your valve could not be opening all the way. To replace them you first have to remove the valve cover then the rocker arm and the push rod, then you can take a telescoping magnet and pull out the lifter. Turn the engine to top dead center and mark the distributor where the rotor is pointing. Remove distributor, fuel lines, the intake manifold and related wiring. Now you can remove the retainer for the roller lifters and replace any bad lifters. Assembly is reversal of removal.
You have to remove the engine cylinder heads to get to the lifters on the 5.3.
To replace the valve lifters on a Cavalier, remove the intake manifold, valve covers and rocker arms. Remove the heads of the lifters using needle-nose pliers.
is a 1995 s10 2.2 have solid or hydrilic lifters
There is no law that says you must replace everything at once. If the cam is still ok, no flat spots and no excessive pitting, just replace the lifters that are sticking. If the engine has a lot of miles on it you'll probably be replacing/rebuilding it soon anyway. Replacing the lifters will just give you a few more miles before you need to get a new engine or a new pickup until something else fails. If you have a flat spot or excessive pitting on the cam, new lifters won't do much good.
You have to replace the distributor assembly. You have to replace the distributor assembly.
It's not recommended to change just the lifters. The cam and lifters should be replaced together. To get at the lifters, you can remove the rocker covers and intake manifold, loosen the rockers enough to get the pushrods out, then pull out the lifters.
Only if they are worn.
i dont think they do, the lifters are right under the intake manifold
lifters are normally quiet in operation check oil level if fine check oil pressure if ok could be wear on cam and lifters if so replace
