I ride to work and drive very little. Can I remove the battery from a 1987 Audi and keep the battery in the house to prevent battery drain and will it damage any of the car's system?

It probably is the best idea to remove the battery and keep it indoors on trickle charge if your not using the car for a while,it will keep the battery much happier.As to the car,it will not harm it sitting there with no battery,the clock wont work obviously! and if you have a radio with preset channels/memory,you will have to reset them when you install the battery,also if it has an anti theft code you will need to reset that,but most modern radios don't have that anymore as car security is so much better these days.I must stress though that you should top the battery up and charge it fully after you have taken it out,then charge it once a month,or it will die.You can get an Automatic charger that will keep it automatically fully charged and can be left connected 24/7 with little observation.
The Audi being so old will have little electronics in it,it will not cause any problems to leave it with no battery.
