The only way you can sell the car is if you sell it for enough money to pay the bank off to get the title to the new owner. If you sell it and keep the money that is a crime.
Can I find out if there is a bank note on the title before I purchase the vehicle?
Death Note !!
You should be able to get a replacement title from the DMV in the state the car is registered in. Of note, it has to be the person who the title's name is in that requests a replacement. They will ask you to sign a few papers and charge I believe $10 or so.

Real property can only be encumbered by a mortgage and not by a promissory note. A promissory note has no effect on real property it is only evidence of a loan. If the mortgagee acquires title to the mortgaged property the title merges and the mortgage is extinguished.
If you were named in the will, you should be able to get something from the courts allowing the Department of Motor Vehicles to transfer title to you. Without a will, everything that he owned will need to go through probate. If there is a leinholder on the vehicle, that note will need to be satisified before DMV will transfer title.
If you enrolled in LA Fitness but aren't able to go, you may be able to get a refund if your doctor writes you a note.
