try the idle control valve or your throttle positioning sensor i had the same
problem on one of my cars
In hot weather my Honda Accord 2000 starts but idles rough and dies.
my 1988 4ws Honda prelude idles low at 600 rpm
If the plugs, plug wires, are good then suspect a vacuum leak somewhere.
my raptor idles but when i touch the gas it backfires abd cuts out any ideas?
Perhaps throttle plate is stuck open - try to free with a screwdriver
It could be a vacuum leak
check for a coolant leak. even a pin hole in a hose can cause something like that. cheapest way to start. if not, get an iac valve its probably the fit valve here's a link: http://www.superhonda.com/forum/f55/troubleshooting-idle-problems-259965/
in park my 94 honda prelude 2.3 idles at 4000 rpm what can i do to slow down the idle ? <><><><> Idle speed is controlled by the computer, and is not adjustable. You have a problem with the computer or a sensor. Take it to a shop.
replace the thing its faulty dont try do fix something you dont understand
If a car starts and idles but does not accelerate can be numerous problems such as a malfunctioning throttle position sensor, fuel regulator, Manifold Airflow sensor or vacuum leak. A diagnostics test will reveal what is malfunctioning and needs to be repaired.
I am having the same problem. Did you figure it out? I think it might be in the air adjustment. I just haven't tried it yet.
My Honda, in good running condition, idles at 700 RPM This is what it idled when it was new. For the 1989 Honda your idle speed should be between 750-1000 RPM and if you have any questions look under your hood and it will tell you right there.
