Obviously, you would not want to take any other addictive or dependent medications because that would defeat the purpose of you stopping your Lexapro. Not only that, but you would also become addicted or dependent on those other medications.

First of all, you should only stop taking medication that is prescribed to you under the advice and supervision of the prescribing doctor. The doctor would have weaned you from the medication to help prevent or at the least lower the withdrawal symptoms you are experiencing. He would have also given you advice on how to cope with the symptoms.

Nonetheless, there are several things you can try to do to help yourself become more comfortable. What generally works for you when you are feeling the symptoms you are feeling such as: the anxiety, the nausea, etc.

You can actually request Phenergan from a doctor. This is prescription medication for nausea and vomiting. It will also make you sleepy. Taken correctly, and only for the couple of days that you must, you will not become dependent on this medication. Since it makes you drowsy as well, it could also help with the nervousness or anxiety you might feel.

Try taking a cool shower or relaxing in cool bath water if you are experiencing cold sweats, a common symptom of withdrawal. Dress in cool clothing but throw a blanket over you if you feel too cold, which will also keep you from feeling too overheated.

You can take Tylenol, up to 1000mg every six hours, for any aches, pains, or headaches you may be experiencing, provided you are not currently taking any other medications containing acetaminophen.

For the anxiety, shakiness, or nervousness, what do you normally do when you need to relax? Relaxing in the tub, relaxing in bed, concentrating on something that will take your mind from your anxiety such as a movie or TV show, are some things that may help.

I don't know of any "home remedy" type teas or massage methods myself. Maybe someone else will come along and add more input as far as that goes.

Just hang in there. Withdrawal symptoms will only last for a few days. The best you can do for this is to sleep it off if you can without the help of any other medication or addictive substances. This can be difficult during withdrawal though. However, the reason that you were taking Lexapro, commonly depression, will not go away after this illness has passed. It may even get worse.

It is really important that you contact the Doctor Who prescribed your Lexapro and seek his advice on this matter. He may have better ideas or something that could really help you for your specific requirements.

Your husband was on Lexapro for 2 months stopped cold turkey he is easily irritated angered unreasonable and started drinking daily Can quiting Lexapro be affecting him that bad signed Worried?

I have been on 20mg Lexapro for over 3 years and stopped cold turkey. I have the 'head sparks' and have had them for 3 weeks now. It has definitely interfered with concentration which causes agitation and irritability. I have also not had one night without seriously bizarre dreams that last the entire night. Whatever it takes, it can't last forever and can't say Lexapro did anything for me but cause serious weight gain. It's easier to deal with life than to mask it with medication; I recommend getting involved in self help books.

How long do you wait to take suboxone after being on 140mgs of methadone?

You should wait until you are experiencing full withdrawals. I would recommend waiting at least 36 hours and 48 hours if you can stand it. If you wait 48 hours you will definitely not get sick but I it is risky before that.

What is this swishing noise when you turn your head and vertigo when you stpped taking lexapro?

I think what you're describing is a "brain zap" which is an electric shock dizzy sensation. It's a common withdrawal symptom from discontinuing antidepressants. Best of luck getting off these drugs--I'm trying to come off Lexapro myself in order to save money.

Can you drink alcohol while taking chloroquine?

I have been on Lexapro for 6 months (10mg). I have drank alcohol on Lexapro and usually doesn't effect me until the day after and the day after that. Night sweats, insomnia and rapid fire (out of control heart beat) are the worst part. Less drastic was the anxiety that returned which is why i was taking Lexapro in the first place. I am now getting off the drug. The sexual side effects are the main reason I am stopping this drug. I had rather have anxiety then be a sexual gimp.

What is the best way to wean off Celexa?

I just weaned myself off of Celexa. I was on 40mg a day. I cut the dose in half each week (40/20/10/5) and then stopped. I have had NO side effects or withdrawal symptoms. I actually feel BETTER now that I am off of it....another way is to wean off 60mg is 20mg each week till you reach twenty and stop taking it...or you can take ten for a week if the withdrawals bother you and then stop...I stopped at twenty and felt some withdrawals like head shocks and irritation for like 2-3 days then it went away...doctor said it was an ok way getting off it...
