Most politicians are lawyers, they will work in a private firm for a number of years then run for office. Getting into a good law school can be rather difficult, in high school make sure you take the best government and history classes offered, but do not ignore your math and science courses. A law school is a professional school, before you go to law school you must complete a undergraduate program, when most people think undergraduate, they think college. After college you can choose a career or go onto a graduate program or a professional school (usually law or medical). When choosing a major in your undergrad college, law schools are not necessarily looking for pre-law students, I am a student at the university of California at Davis, studying Enology (chemical processes in the wine making industry) but I hope to continue onto med school. My major has little correlation to being a doctor, but it is heavily involved in chemistry and Biology, so therefore, in high school I took AP Chem and AP Bio. I still took AP Gov, AP Calc, and AP French. These courses look really good on a college application, especially if you do well on the tests... Many lawyers major in pre-law or political science. All in all, get into a good college by taking hard and challenging courses in high school, and pick a major that you enjoy, however it should have some relation to what you want to do in the future.
