Stamped on the receiver and probably the barrels, too.
According to the cross reference in the Numrich gun parts catalog the Sears model 300 is really a Winchester model 1400.
This is really a Winchester model 1400.
If it's really a shotgun and a rifle, I have no idea what you have. Several variations of the Model 1300 and Model 1400 shotguns had the Ranger name added and we would need to know a little more about it to give an estimated value.
I believe it was a Slide action pump shotgun ( 20 ga. ) made by J.Stevens for Sears. The one I saw was in 20 ga. but it did not say Ted Williams or Sears on it. The Blue Book of gun Values, says ( 20 ga. 3" chamber,5 shot tube ) ,circa 1910 Stevens Model 200 I have a Ted Williams model 200: 12 gauge shotgun. If you need some information please let me know. The Ted Williams Model 200 pump shotgun was made by Winchester, known as a contract gun, same as Winchester 1200, made in 12 and 20 gauge It is the Winchester 1200. Here is a cross reference chart that is pretty handy. http://proofhouse.com/cm/house_brand.htm
Yes or no, depending on what you are really asking. This question is poorly phrased. Winchester is a company which makes guns. A "repeater" is any gun which can be shot multiple times before it is necessary to reload it. A rifle is a long gun which shoots a single projectile for each shot, as oppposed to a shotgun, which is a long gun which shoots small, multiple projectiles for each shot. Winchester has made several rifles and shotguns which are repeaters and they have made several rifles and shotguns which are single shot (i.e. not repeaters). The answer is then that a Winchester repeater could be either a rifle or a shotgun.
The value of ANY firearm- especially an antique, is based on exact make, model, variant and condition. Without ALL criteria, we could only say somewhere between $1 and $1000- which is really no answer. Unfortunately you will need a hands-on appraisal by a dealer that knows old Winchester guns.
Rare in really great shape.
because he was really really really really old like 5,000,000 years old
These were sold by Sears and Roebuck. The Model 300 is really a Winchester model 1400. SORT OF The Ted Williams 300 is basically a Winchester 1400, and the TW 200 is basically the Winchester 1200, but certain parts do NOT interchange. The buttstocks and trigger guards, for example. Here is a cross reference chart. It is correct that Sears had some exclusive features on the Ted Williams models. I have a Ted Williams 300 that has an adjustable choke that was not available on the Winchester 1400, for example. http://proofhouse.com/cm/house_brand.htm
Not really.
Really good place to start is www.midwestgunworks.com
Could you please tell us what model it is? If a Winnie has a really high number it is probably a Model 94 rifle or a Model 12 shotgun, but with a number under 100,000, it could be any of several dozen models.
