Yes. The parents of a minor can file a missing person or absentee minor report with the local police department. When the minor is located he or she will be taken into custody and either placed in a juvenile center to await a court hearing or returned to parental custody and the minor and the minor's parents will be required to appear in front of a juvenile court judge to answer some serious questions. Running away is not the solution, and it causes a multitude of problems for everyone involved, especially if there is no clear indication that the minor left of his or her own free will. Minors crossing state lines without parental consent are also committing a violaltion of federal law. FYI, the legal age of majority is 18 or higher not 17.
