Check the switch and make sure it hasn't gone bad. Next check the fuse. If it still doesn't work, make sure the motor is still good. If all else fails, trace the wires all the way back to the motor because there's a short somewhere.

check your tailgate switch on the dash mine went bad and after i replaced it it was like new
Is it an electronic stop? or does it physically bind and look uneven or crooked when it stops? Help it by hand while someone holds the button without getting your fingers in the window. Window motor may have bad spot, would need replacement. Safety linkage may be moving and shutting off power. Does it stop using the tailgate switch and the dash mounted switch?
should be black and have a red button on top The inertia switch for the 88 Bronco should be behind the left side of the dash, above the brake pedal. The inertia switch for the 88 Bronco II should be under the right side of dash, on the firewall. You may need to pull the floor mat down a bit to see it.
There is a lock ring on the inside of the dash where the switch connects. You need to remove this lock ring to remove the switch from the dash.
On a ( 2000 ) Lincoln Navigator the rear window defroster switch is located in the dash below the headlight switch
its located on the passager side of the truck under the dash
under the dash,,drivers side

How much 'older'? I have a '78 Bronco. Ignition switch has a bezel ring that secures the switch to the dash. Simply unscrew the ring from the front, then pull switch assembly from the rear of dash. Once it is free from dash there are plastic clips holding the assy together.
I think its under the dash, above the brake and E/brake ...
under the dash near the transmission tunnel on the passenger side floor
