neather temp sending unit or faulty gauge....
mine has a "dial" style thermostat looking thing by the drain valve
Hi, I know there is one temperature sensor located right near the thermostat, which one or what exactly are you looking for? Steve H.
The coolant temperature sending unit for your engine temperature gauge is located on the intake manifold just to the left of the thermostat housing ( when looking from the front of the Explorer ) The larger sending unit to the right of the thermostat housing is for the EEC - IV system
Or, if everything else is operating properly, it could be the thermostat or a blocked radiator, but I'd focus on the thermostat first. Be certain that the engine is at normal operating temperature when looking to see if coolant is circulating. A properly operating thermostat will prevent the circulation of coolant while engine temperatures are below operating temperature.

There is only one thermostat relating to heating/cooling on the Windstar, and that's the one on the engine. If you're looking for the temperature adjusting/setting control, that's the temperature blend door and the actuator motor that drives it, based on the dashboard slide adjuster.See "Related Questions" below for more
I BELIEVE the one for the engine temperature gauge is on the LEFT side of the thermostat housing ( where the top radiator hose connects to the engine ) and the sensor on the RIGHT is for the EEC - V ( when you are looking at the engine from the front )
The engine temp gauge is in the instrument cluster and the sending unit for the temperature gauge is in the intake manifold just to the left of the thermostat housing when you are looking from the front of the Explorer ( the larger sending unit to the right of the thermostat housing is for the EEC IV system)
A thermostat can be found in many location for many things. Thermostats can be found in a house, a car, a coffee maker, an oven and many other things. What are you looking for a thermostat of?
It's under the throttle body housing. I'm looking for an answer on how to take the housing off to get to the thermostat
Your coolant temperature sending units for your temperature gauge and EEC - V system should be on either side of your thermostat housing at the front of your intake manifold on the 4.0 L OHV engine . ( where the top radiator hose connects to the engine ) When looking from the front of the engine , I believe the sending unit for your temperature gauge is the smaller one to the left of the thermostat housing.
there is a hose coming from the radiator there should be 2 screws and a round looking piece and the thermostat is right behind it
