This is a common disease called fin rot:
- Aquarium salt (fights off infections) - 1/2 teaspoon per gallon
- Melafix or Fungus eliminator - can be found at most petstores and Wal-Mart
- Keep the water warm (75-85F) and extremely clean
- If the rot is very slight or mild, you could use Maracyn I and Maracyn II
