If a person is born blind how would they describe a color to someone since they've never seen colors?

They couldn't, unless someone had already described a color to them and they were merely repeating the sentence.

Umm..."If a person is born blind, how would they"...they, the blind person?..."describe a color to someone...?" I don't know if this is so clear cut and dry answer, that they can't. Perhaps take another similar situation to ponder this.

Say, someone wanted to describe a texture, but they don't have experience in touching it since they have no hands or feet or just a quadroplegic or a burnt victim...they could use other senses to describe it...looks shiny or flat with bumps...or the shiny surface is more windy than the flat one with bumps when a fan is blowing over them, much like the wind is blustery in the country comparred to the city with buildings and trees.

So could a blind person without the sense of sight know that differnet colors exist? Most likely this would not be an easy task by any means, because even if the person could actually see without any physical barriors, sight is a learned process to understand it's depth perception, focus, movement, brightness, let alone color.

My final comment is: if you can have intuition and know what to do, you can be blind and know there is color...once perceived to be there. Whew!
