I am not expert, but i believe that most immigrants (if not all of them) who married a US citizen and, because of that, got a greencard do (yes) get to keep their green card. So ladies (and gentleman) be sure that your immigrant fiance/ee marries you out of love, and not that "card."
>>>>The immigrant gets to keep the green card, but cannot apply for citizenship, unless the US citizen was abusive towards the immigrant. The USCIS, however, is very discretionary in these cases and it ultimately depends on the Hearing Officer and how you present the reasons for your divorce and they determine if the marriage was not fraudulent. My advice is that you get divorced after you receive your citizenship, provided the marriage was not fraudulent, becasue if the marriage was a fraud, they can still revoke your citizenship.
You need a divorce!
If you are married, you can apply for divorce.
If an undocumented (illegal) immigrant is married to a U.S. citizen, then they are a U.S. citizen. So their divorce from another U.S. citizen won't affect the status of their child at all.
Of course! Being married does not affect one's legal status, even a legal alien can be deported for criminal activity.
It is until you have registered as a married citizen in America.
It is a rule stating that if you are married to an US citizen then you will be considered an legal citizen.
yes, my ex-husband is going through this with his wife, they have 2 small children and have been married for almost 7 years. She is being deported around the first of the year.
A visa has to be applied for before returning to the country.
Yes, you can.
well the question of the daay would be are they married????
From what I understand, you can't marry anyone who is already married (unless they divorce their current partner or become a widow)
Marrying a US citizen does not automatically make the other person a citizen. Spouses of US citizens can and do get deported everyday. Send him back home and apply for him while he is not in the U.S.
