Why the heater or defroster may not work in a 1993 Chevy Caprice Classic because of the heating core is going out.
could be head gasket problem. does your heater work? might need heater core , clogged up. do compression test. or bypass heater core and see if that works.
Most common things are Thermostat or a bad heater core but could also be something blocking the door down by the heater core. I changed my Thermostat and Heater control Valve to find out a pencil fell in the defroster and prevented the door from closing. Hope this helps.
Its either a bad heater core or a clogged one. They are very expensive.
NO! THE HEATER CORE IS YOUR CARS HEAT SOURCE YOU CAN BYPASS BUT IS NOT A GOOD IDEAL IN WINTER!
Depends on what you mean by heater will not work. If the blower motor will not work, it can be a blown fuse, bad blower motor, bad blower motor switch, or a defective blower motor resistor pack. If you mean that the blower motor works but there is no heat, then it can be a clogged heater core, thermostat stuck open, or defective heater control valve.
Could be several things, is there coolant in the overflow tank? **Don't open cap when hot** does your heat work? your heater core might be clogged? do your fans turn on to cool the engine? Do you have oil? & what does it smell like ? burnt ? or just like old oil I had this problem on a 98 Jeep, it was a clogged heater core, & rusty coolant .... Matt
you have a bad heater core
Before CHanging the Heater Core, have you tried flushing it? I have a 99' Jimmy and have to do this every year to get my heater to work.
It may need a heater core.
replace heater core in a 1991 Chevy work truck 1500
Yes. The coolant carries the engine heat to the heater core. Without coolant the heater core does not get warm.
