In most states it is legal as long as you have a catalytic converter but you do have to be aware of your local noise ordinance. You can usually put them on yourself for about $25 per pipe if you are getting rid of both the cat and the muffler.
are straight pipes on 2500 duramax legal in ohio
no
yes, they are legal, true dual pipes are the best type of pipes that you can buy. compared to "single and a double pipes" which aren't loud at all. of course there are straight pipes which have no cat converters, but those sound like crap. so basically if you have true dual pipes you have the best money can buy
5 inch straight pipes with no catylatic converters. If it is a diesel, DPF delete and 6 inch straight pipes.
Yes straight pipes are illegal in north carolina. IF your car or truck has to pass and imissions inspection. But if you don't have to pass imissions the noise that comes from straight pipes is not a big deal. Atleast not it my hometown.
yes they are because a few years ago there was a plot to blow up the president by terrorists planting bombs in the pipes in the president's limo the next time it was taken to be repaired. but they found out about it and since straight pipes are illegal because bombs can't curve they are only straight------------------------------------The above is not correct. Straight pipes are illegal (in the U.S., at least), but they are illegal because of the loud noise they produce and because vehicles with straight pipes usually do not meet emissions standards.
yes
The best way to clean out the inside of your custom motorcycle straight pipes is to remove the pipes and use a cleaning solvent and a rag with a long handled brush.
No they are not, but you can get away with them, just don't say anything when you get it inspected and most of the time they won't say anything. It will still pass emitions as long as yoyu have cats.
if u want ur truck to be very loud the straight pipes would be the way to go but if you just want a go sound than the flowmaster 40s would be the way to go but dont get wrong the straight pipes sound great
Straight pipes are exhaust that are quite literally "Straight" instead of flowing the the frame of the vehicle. That's one way to answer it, but the question must be from a kid; if so, "Straight" pipes (which usually are "straight and unbent" actually refers to running an exhaust without a cat or a muffler; it's a kid thing for real unless you are at a drag strip and talking very serious ponies on tap, usually the fuel dragsters or funny cars have "straight" pipes which come out of the exhaust ports and bend upward and backward; but we're talking 2000 hosepower, less than 10 seconds of run time and Nitromethane for fuel. Have fun and save your dollars to pay the noise pollution tickets and fines. lol ! straight pipes are awesome on some engines and very annoying on others.but yes straight pipes are not usually staight, they just dont have anything like a muff or cat
straight pipes are louder than glass packs at first, glass packs have glass wool inside to help muffle the sound, when the glass wears out they get louder, it also depends on the length of the glass pack. if you get glass packs, you can run the car for awhile and shut it down and then spray water in the pipe, it will break down the glass, it might not be as loud as straight pipes but it will give you a better even sound versus straight pipes, I have both and done both.
