The Nile is a riverand its north part flows through a desert. Any river floods when it has to manage a volume of water much grater than normal - in the Niles case very heavy rain and melting snow from the Ethiopian Highlands. However the Nile actually diminishes towards the sea because of its journey through the desert causing evaporation.
yeah, if you look at a map of the earlier egypt, you see a very wide unsteable nile river. but when u look at a newer map, you see if narrow. this reason is they used a dam, they would open it when droughts come in, and close it when its full.

The Nile River.
The nile River is the longest river in the world. It has its origins in Burundi, south of the equator.
The Nile River was known as the "taker of life" because it flooded unpredictably, destroying crops, homes, and sometimes leading to famine and disease. These floods were essential for agriculture in ancient Egypt, but they also brought devastation and hardships to the people living along the riverbanks.

well, attackers couldn't cross the desert to attack Egypt, therefor, not a lot of people... attackers.... could come to Egypt without dieing. on the notrh and south there was the nile, and the nile is dangerouse so people couldn't really attack Egypt. i hope this helped... i just learned it in school :)) :)) :))
It mostly comes from Ethiopia.
The source of the Nile is Lake Victoria which inside Africa. It doesn't come from the Mediterranean Sea because if it did the salt water from the sea would've killed all the crops and plants. So as life surrounds the river and as the river empties into the Sea the Lake is the source.
The Niles main tributaries are - The Blue Nile - Lake Tana, Ethiopia. The White Nile - Lake Victoria, Uganda. The Atbara River - Ethiopian highlands north of Lake Tana.
