What happens if the kVp of an X-ray beam remains the same and the mA setting is increased?

If the kVp is kept the same but the mA is increased, the x-ray will have more contrast but there will be no increase in penetration. Increasing kV by 10 is the about the same as doubling the mAs. If the patient is large, then it is better to increase the kV. If the x-ray is too grey, then it is better to increase the mAs.

What happens when the x-ray tube is to close to the chest for an x-ray?

WHILE TAKING A PA VIEW OF CHEST DISTANCE BETWEEN XRAY TUBE AND FILM IS ABOUT 6 FT SO AS TO DECREASE THE MAGNIFICATION AND INCREASE THE SHARPNESS OF IMAGE WHEREAS AN AP VIEW WHICH IS TAKEN AT LESSER DISTANCE THERE IS INCREASED MAGNIFICATION AND DECREASED SHARPNESS. THEREFORE WHEN the X-ray tube is to close to the chest for an X-ray IT CAUSES 1 INCREASED MAGNIFICATION 2 DECREASED SHARPNESS

What does it mean by OID in X-ray?

It means object to image receptor distance. It's the distance/space between the thing being x rayed and the image receptor (the plate that absorbs the x-rays and forms the image)

What happens if you take an x ray of an x ray?

Doesn't work, it'd be like trying to shine a beam of light onto a beam of light.

In the equation y equals 7x plus 3 what happens to y if x is increased by 1?

y is increased by 7

What is the correct an x-ray or a x-ray?

An x-ray because X is pronounced as eks , that is, it starts with a vowel.

What happens to a radiographic image when the object film distance is increased?

When the object to image distance (OID) is increased, it creates what is called an "air-gap". This space between object and film reduces the amount of scatter radiation that reaches the film by allowing divergent rays travelling at steep angles to miss the x-ray film or cassette. Though it is not the same principle as using a grid-cap over a cassette, it does achieve similar results. A grid uses lead strips to absorb scatter x-ray photons while an air-gap simply provides the scatter x-rays enough space to pass by the film. These are primarily low-energy photons that would only add density to your images w/out diagnostic benefit. Increasing the OID also has two other important effects on the radiographic image: it results in magnification (a form of geometric distortion) and a loss of detail due to an larger pnenumbra. This can be demonstrated by pointing a desk lamp at a wall and making a "Shadow Puppet" using any object and observing the change in the cast shadow when you increase or decrease the distance between the object and the wall (the shadow is analogous to the radiographic image...)
