AbsolutlyIf you had a blown head gaskit the compresion from your cylanders can leak into to coolant system causing things to burst. The coolant system is usually rated at 14PSi, while the pressures in the cylander can reach above 300PSi. Also if the components that burst were old, it could be that they were just worn out.One way to tell is wait till the engine is coldm, disconnect the spark coil, and do a compression test on each cylander. If they differ from each other, or are low this would point to a blown head gaskit. For instance: If the compression on a four cylander was 110, 95, 60, 115 you probbaly have a blown head gaskit. Next take a little engine oil and pour it into the spark plug hole, and do another compression test. if the compression goes up on the ones that are low it means that the rings need to be replaced. if not it could be the valves leaking, or the head gaskit. Then run the engine until it is at normal running temp, and turn it off.Take out the spark plugs one at a time. Caution they can be very HOT!! use a pair of heavy leather gloves or a rag to handle the hot parts. When a spark plug is removed if you hear a hiss, or sizzle that is a sign that you have a blown head gaskit.Good Luck!!
