It could be the motor, but it also could be the switch, or the wiring. Start buy taking the switch panal out of the door with the wires connected. Test the wires to see if the switch is supplying power out the back, and into the wires, when the switch is pressed. If it isnt, then its the switch, if it is, then you can narrow it down even further by testing the connection at the motor. If power is making it to the motor, than the wiring is good, and the motor could be bad.
Dont forget to always check your fuses for anything electricly related.
This happened in my 98 Riviera. My friend took the switch apart, and cleaned the tiny contacts. Over time, they get a black dust on them and it doesn't work. He said it would last 3 or 4 months, and when it did it again, to replace the switch. I have since replaced the switch.
The window regulator has failed. The new one from the dealer will come with a window motor also.
The regulator has failed and needs replaced.
Check the wires to the window motor. The window motor may have a loose wire or the motor may need to be replaced.
main switch is bad
Sounds like the motor is disconnected from the window, or the gear may be stripped. == == == == go to a place that works with motors and ask what might be wrong
2007 Saturn ion passenager window wont go down replaced motor door switch & driver side main switch
bad power window motor
1999 Pontiac Montana drivers side power window down wont go up. New motor and different switch (used, may not be good), installed. Window still wont go up. Switched wires in plug at motor and motor does reverse when not installed in door. How does motor switch polarity? Is it done in the switch? I cant find any limit switches. I do not have a schematic of system. Thanks RP
When that happened to our Breeze, we changed the fuse, now we have one that wont go down, its the motor of the power window. I HATE THIS CAR, anyone out there wanting to buy a Breeze DONT DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the gears in the power motor may be worn out. If you can hear the motor engage in the window unit but the window will not move up or down then problem is with the gears in the power window motor unit. Most want you to buy a whole new motor but you may go to www.ebay.com and bid on a gear kit for your power window motor (costs a whole lot less) Hope this helps Lis@
window powered down but will not go up, I can hear the motor running
It's the switch because the motor is getting power to go up but not down.
