The regulator has failed and needs replaced.
The cables are part of the window regulator assemble. My cables jumped over the nylon pulley and kinked. Monster Auto Parts has the complete unit for 49.95. I going to get one and change it. It requires the use of the old motor if it's still good. Looks easy enough!
no. this window is locked on a track and connected to cables or gears. If you take everything apart and shim up the window only and still it does not come open easily.
You can but if the power window motor is bad it still won't roll up.
If the motor has been replaced and the window still does not operate properly there is likely a wiring issue. The wiring from the fuse box to the window motor is likely the culprit.
The cable has slipped off a guide or is broken. The regulator is toast. Replace it. Here's a post on how to do it.http://www.ricksfreeautorepairadvice.com/repair-topics/window-power-repair/replace-a-power-window-motor-regulator
on most cars no, but usually the motor fails gradually and will slow down the worse shape its in. if it still buzzes you might be able to help the window up by gently lifting the glass as the motor struggles to lift it.
If all the other windows operate it's not a fuse. Try taking the door panel off and tap the window motor with a small hammer. If the motor starts working it's the motor. If the motor still doesn't work it's probably a bum switch.
It depends on what part you "took off". If the motor is still attached, and if the motor itself works ( in other words, if the problem is in the switch, not the motor) you can touch wires to a car battery and then directly to the motor leads. If the motor on the window doesn't work, the motor is probably bad. You can order a new one online (usually around 60-70 bucks) If you still need the window to go up (and the motor is bad) you might want to disconnect that motor and manually feed the line back that holds the window up. That should hold it up. Or just wedge something in there to hold it.
that car has a cable drive for the window the motor uses a pulley system driving cables to lift it up or down. it is call the window regulator. if the motor is still running the cable has broken. it very common failure.P.S. don't buy a cheap aftermarket replacement they only last about a year maybe two buy it from a g.m. dealer it'll be expensive but it'll work much longer and use a non conductive non gumming spray grease on the new regulator before installing it.
if the the motor is good you need to check the circuit breaker because the circuit breaker might be the problem. window doesnt go bad my dude the motor goes bad check it again
My 94 Tempo's Driver window died, there are two main likelinesses. I believe telling the difference is as follows. If your window moves "somewhat freely" using your hands but the motor sound still goes, it is off the track and you need to take the door apart. If the motor is silent it is likely dead (that in combo with it still being on track ) and you need to take apart the door...to replace a motor.
you can take the panel off the door and find the wires going to the power window motor. Take a car battery or charger and hook it up to the wires at the motor. if the window goes up or down then it is probably the switch. If it does nothing reverse the hookup. If it still does nothing it may be your motor. Hooking it up one way will move the window up and reversing it , it will go down.
