If this is a free country and you have freedom of speech as one of your rights in the Constitution then why will you be put in jail for threatening the President of the United States?

Because, technically it is a terrorist threat, and if they ignored the "minor" threats, they might miss a major one in disguise. Sort of like if you say that you are going to blow up a building every day, no one will believe you, and then someday you do actually blow up a building. It's just safety. What I'm mad about is why people throw a fit whenever we swear in public (freedom of speech?), but they can tell you to believe in a religion o something, then get PO'd when you don't.
