White dwarfs no longer produce energy, but it takes a while for them to cool down. Because of their small surface area, cooling down takes a long, long time.

Why no red dwarfs have become white dwarfs?

A red dwarf can last for a trillion years, or for several trillion years, before it runs out of energy (and turns into a white dwarf). That is much longer than the current age of the Universe. In other words, red dwarves didn't yet have time to become white dwarves.

Why are dwarf plants are hot but dim?

I assume you mean a DWARF STAR. There are different types of dwarf stars; the white dwarfs are fairly hot - but the reason they are dim is that they have a very small surface area.

What is a small hot very dense star?

Both white dwarfs and neutron stars match the description. Neutron stars are smaller, hotter, and denser.

Is a white dwarf a large star capable of fusing elements?

No, a white dwarf is a small, dense star that has exhausted its supply of nuclear fuel and is no longer able to sustain nuclear fusion reactions in its core. White dwarfs are the remnants of stars that were once similar to the Sun, and they are typically about the size of Earth but much more massive. They are called "white" dwarfs because they are extremely hot and glow with a white-hot light, but they are not capable of fusing elements because they do not have the necessary conditions (temperature, density, and pressure) to sustain nuclear fusion in their cores.

Is a white dwarfs hot and dim or hot and bright?

As the name white dwarf implies, this is a small type of star, and it has less surface area from which to radiate light, so even if it is hot, and giving off lots of light per square mile, there are fewer square miles than in larger, non-dwarf stars, so there is less total light being emitted.

Why is the white dwarfs white?

They are called white dwarfs because when they form, although not replenishing their energy supply any more, they are still hot enough to shine. Overt time (a long time) however, they will cool down and become 'black dwarfs' which no longer emit light in visible wavelengths.

How does a star turn into a white dwarf star?

A white dwarf is what stars like the Sun become after they have exhausted their nuclear fuel. Near the end of its nuclear burning stage, this type of star expels most of its outer material, creating a planetary nebula. Only the hot core of the star remains. This core becomes a very hot white dwarf, with a temperature exceeding 100,000 kelvin.

What are white dwarfs generally formed from in space?

White dwarfs are the exposed core of a dying star. They are formed when small or medium-sized stars age and became a red giant, then the outer layers of the red giant drift into space, leaving a hot core in the center, that core is a white dwarf.

What is a white dwarf in space?

White Dwarf Stars are what stars like the sun become after they burn out all of their fuel. The stars is over 100,000 Kelvin, a hot white color, and it spends the next billion years cooling off.

The color of a star is what?

The color of a star is its . . . color. In other words, a star's color shows us how white-hot it is. Some stars, like our Sun, are colored slightly in the yellow direction of white-hot. Bigger stars are less yellow and more blue - the bigger, the hotter, the bluer shade of white-hot they are. Red giants, white dwarfs and black holes are something related, but different.
