I am 14 years and 8 months old. I am 5' 5'' and I weigh 128 pounds....I don't really exercise all that much and I really don't diet like at all, but I do work with my dad alot during the summer in 100 degrees F in Texas. I think that is what keeps me from getting fat. More input There is no fair average weight for any age group because weight is not just fat. There are many other factors that can affect weight such as bone density, bone mass, muscles, (which weigh a lot) and stuff like that. Just because you weigh a lot doesn't mean that you aren't skinny, but everyone whether they're skinny or overweight should try to make good food choices to either lose weight or stay skinny.
Follow this rule:
Eat only when you're hungry, until you're full, no more, no less.
When you're growing, sometimes if you notice you feel hungrier than usual, make sure you eat because you could be on a growth spurt or something. Always make sure to eat breakfast because if you don't later in the day you will be hungry and more likely to make bad food choices.
And make sure you do physical exercise too. Even just walking the dog will help. Run down the beach this summer or swim. Join a dance class or Basketball team or go to the gym.
When you're growing, sometimes if you look overweight it could just be temporary. People gain weight before they shoot up so if you think you're eating more than usual you could just be beginning a growth spurt. And for a 14 year old yeah, that weight sounds about normal. Just follow the tips above and you will be good to go.
But stay away from foods like Cosmic Brownies or Ding Dongs or those mini cakes which are packed with fat. Eeew.
Do not try to starve yourself or cut down on what you eat when you are still hungry. That is really totally bad for you because if you starve yourself, your body slows down its metabolism, the chemical that burns fat because it is tricked into thinking that you need to retain your weight in order to survive this food shortage. So when you do have to eat again, which you will in order to survive since you can't keep up starving yourself, you will just gain it all back real fast because your metabolism will be slowed. What a pain! Another answer: I don't think there really is a correct weight for girls our age. In fact, the 5% - 85% percentile is normal. I'm 5'3 and 89lbs but I have a friend (same age) and she is 5'7 and 130. So it really varies. I would check with your doctor. Apparently to a teen BMI calculator, you are you are in the 80% Percentile, so you are average. A 5'3 fourteen year old can weigh anywhere from 90-131 lbs to be called "average" weight. So it's a difference of 40+ lbs!
It takes 3500 calories to lose a pound
just use them slowly, go up and down with them.. You should lose about a pound a week or two.
Depends on how much you weigh but 1 pound or more is great
"Can" a 130 pound 12 year old lose weight, yes, but the question is "should" a 130 pound 12 year old lose weight. The answer to that depends on your height and build as well. It would be good to consult a physician if you are concerned about being over weight. They can also give you ideas on how best to lose weight for your age if losing weight is appropriate. Good luck.
